How Keytom launched a global card program with Reap — and scaled it to 100+ countries
Keytom is building borderless finance: an app where customers hold and spend across crypto and fiat anywhere in the world, through a card. Reap was Keytom's first card partner — and more than two years on, the two teams are still building together.
At a glance
- First card partner — Reap took Keytom's card program from zero to live
- 3,000+ cardholders since February 2025
- 14,000+ transactions since February 2025
- US$5M+ card transaction volume since February 2025
- 100+ countries since February 2025
Keytom needed a partner that could support us across multiple regions, which Reap did. However, Reap was also very flexible and very professional and willing to work with younger and earlier stage companies. So this is what made Reap stand out.

About Keytom
Keytom is a financial product in the crypto space, built for people whose money doesn't live in one place. As Jackee Wong, Keytom's Chief Marketing Officer, puts it: "We help our users across the world hold and spend crypto, efficiently as if they were spending cash."
The company runs on a fully distributed team and serves customers across 100+ countries. Its promise is simple to say and hard to deliver: your money — whether it's held in crypto or fiat — should be spendable the moment you need it, wherever you are.
That promise runs through the whole product. Customers hold balances across currencies and digital assets in one account, convert between them in-app, and spend through a Keytom card.
The challenge: global ambition from day one
Most early-stage fintechs launch in one market and expand later. Keytom never had that option — its customers were global from the start.
"Keytom was very ambitious from day one," says Jackee. "We started with a distributed team, but the goal was to get accessible payment options to the world all over. What we needed from a card partner — and what was really hard to find — was a partner who was able to support us across the different regions that we operated in."
The requirements list was demanding for any card issuing partner, let alone one willing to take on an early-stage company:
- Multi-region coverage — customers spending across 100+ countries, not a single home market
- A frictionless payment experience — crypto-to-spend needed to feel as immediate as cash
- Responsiveness — a distributed team serving a global user base needs a partner who is hands-on at all times
- Willingness to build with an early-stage company — flexibility on the things that established providers treat as fixed
"What we need from a card partner was someone responsive and able to provide a frictionless experience for our users across the world with multi-geo coverage," Jackee says.
Why Reap
Keytom evaluated the market before committing. What separated Reap wasn't a single feature — it was the combination of geographic reach and a genuine willingness to work with a young company.
"Keytom needed a partner that could support us across multiple regions, which Reap did," says Jackee. "However, Reap was also very flexible and very professional and willing to work with younger and earlier stage companies. So this is what made Reap stand out across its competitors in the market."
For Hong Kong–based Reap, that's the model: card issuing, payments and spend infrastructure that other fintechs build their products on top of — with the hands-on partnership that early-stage teams actually need, not just an API and a rate card.
The launch: from zero to live
Reap was Keytom's first card partner, and the launch covered everything from initial setup through to a live program in market.
"As the first partner to Keytom, Reap was instrumental in delivering our product from zero to live."
— Jackee Wong, CMO, Keytom
That meant more than issuing cards. Reap supported the initial operations of the product launch throughout the entire process — the underlying work that determines whether the product holds up the first time a real customer taps a card.
The partnership today: 2+ years and counting
Plenty of vendor relationships fade after launch. Keytom has now been building on Reap for over two years, and the relationship has stayed close as the program has scaled.
"Reap has always been very hands-on with its customers and clients," says Jackee. "The relationship between Keytom and Reap is very strong, and I look forward to expanding it in the future."
That flexibility has been a growth lever, not just a nice-to-have: "For an early stage company, the flexibility Reap offered us allowed us to grow quickly and service our users frictionlessly."
The results
Since February 2025, Keytom's card program on Reap has reached:
- 3,000+ cardholders
- 14,000+ transactions
- US$5M+ in card transaction volume
- 100+ countries where customers spend
Behind each of those numbers is the same event repeated thousands of times: someone holding crypto who needed to pay for something real, and could.
What it means for customers
For Jackee, the product's purpose isn't abstract.
"What we build at Keytom matters to me personally. A few months ago, I was hit by a car, and during recovery I ran into medical costs that exceeded the amount of cash I had on hand. I had money in crypto, but spending it was resulting in delays and friction when speed mattered most. That's actually when stable, borderless money stopped being a buzzword for me. And that's exactly what we build at Keytom: your money, your cash, one account usable the moment you need it — across 100+ countries."
— Jackee Wong, CMO, Keytom
And on Reap, we are able to do that."
That's the case for the partnership in one story. Keytom's customers don't think about card rails, issuing infrastructure, or multi-region licensing — they think about whether their money works when it matters. And for thousands of cardholders spending across 100+ countries, it does.
